I went expecting a easy run, it was only a 3k and was a completely flat course. It started nice and simple on a gravel road, but after a half mile we turned into some tree orchard with a good 3-5 inches of gigantic leaves on the ground. What looked like it was going to be fun, turned out to be really difficult. The ground under the leaves was really uneven and made me nervous and kicking leaves around was hard and really slowed down my pace. Then we turned into a grassy field where it was easier to run and finally we ended up back on the gravel till the finish line. Because this was a hangover run the mile one aid station included beer, bloody Mary's, shots of vodka or water. I opted for the water.
They had a beer mile after the race for those who wanted to participate. It involved running a 1/4 mile loop four times and drinking a 12oz beer at the start of every loop. Those who vomited had to run a penalty loop. I wasn't too interested in sticking around and watching people throw up and the post race food wasn't all that great so we headed out right after it ended. In our hurry to leave before the beer mile started we spaced post race photos so my mom took this one when I got home.
Happy New Year
